Cheetah Duma Males - 90-125 lbs., females - 80-100 lbs. "Tearmarks" distinguish cheetahs from leopards, as well as their sleeker greyhound-like body. They can run up to 70 mph and their stride is 23 ft. when running at full speed. We saw 3 on safari...This was the animal I most wanted to see. Here are the best pictures: Our first one in the Serengeti provided the best photo opportunities. A guide said it was an older cheetah. It was 94 degrees, and he was in the ditch panting quite hard. Our second one was about 1.5 miles before our camp in the Serengeti Our third spotting was in the Ngorongoro Crater Spotted Hyaena Fisi Madoa Males - 125-140 lbs, females 140-165 (guess the vicious ones are the females!). The spotted are the largest and most powerful of the three species of hyaena in Africa. The spots get less noticeable with age. I'm pretty sure we only saw spotted hyaenas on safari.
