Masai Giraffe

Males can get up to 4,000 lbs, but are usually up to 2,400 lbs and reach a height of 18+ feet. Females reach 1,500 lbs at a height of 16 feet. The masai giraffe is what we saw, and can be identified by its jagged-edged patterns.

Ngorongoro Conversation Area on the southern part of the Serengeti plain (not yet in the Serengeti park) held probably the biggest concentration of giraffes. At one time, we saw ~ 20 heading to the top of a hill - gathering for lunch?
